Bose introduces Auracast audio sharing to its flagship headphones via firmware update
Bose has released a new firmware update for its QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2. This update introduces beta support for Auracast and Bluetooth LE Audio, marking the first time the company has implemented this audio sharing technology in its flagship hardware.
The update enables the $449 Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2 to participate in Auracast broadcasts. According to The Verge, Bose intends to expand this audio sharing capability to additional devices in the near future. This move brings Bose into a small group of major audio manufacturers currently supporting the technology.
The Verge reports that existing Auracast support is limited to specific products from brands such as Sony, JBL, Samsung, and Sennheiser. While some smaller manufacturers like EarFun have also implemented the feature, Bose's entry into the market represents a significant addition from a highly recognizable brand in the headphone industry.
