Fairphone announces upcoming launch of repairable Fairbuds 2 wireless earbuds
Fairphone has shared details regarding the upcoming release of its Fairbuds 2 wireless earbuds. Following recent leaks and a teaser on X, the company confirmed that a full reveal of the new audio hardware is scheduled for October 14th.
The Fairbuds 2 serves as the first successor to the original Fairbuds, which were released over two years ago. According to The Verge, the new model will maintain the brand's emphasis on modularity, featuring seven parts that are fully replaceable and modular. This design approach aims to extend the product's lifespan through easier repairs.
Beyond hardware longevity, the new earbuds will include upgraded wireless features. The Verge reports that the device will expand its Bluetooth capabilities by adding support for Sony's adaptive LDAC codec, which provides high-resolution audio. This update follows a major redesign that was leaked earlier this month.
