Volkswagen to replace the ID.4 electric crossover with the new ID.Tiguan
Volkswagen announced on Monday that the company plans to replace its retired ID.4 crossover with the upcoming ID.Tiguan. This strategic shift aims to leverage more recognizable brand names to attract electric vehicle buyers, according to a report from The Verge.
The decision reflects the German automaker's belief that established nameplates like the Tiguan may be more appealing to consumers during the transition to electric mobility. The ID.Tiguan is scheduled to arrive in Europe in early 2027, where it will complement other upcoming models in the electric lineup, including the ID.Polo and ID.Cross.
While the ID.4 was previously produced in the United States, Volkswagen has stated that the ID.Tiguan will arrive in the US market at a later, unspecified date. Specific design elements for the new electric model have not yet been released by the company.
