In short: When Luna Valente moves from Mexico to Argentina, she expects a fresh start at a prestigious school and a local skating rink. Instead, she stumbles into a web of corporate greed, hidden identities, and a decades-old arson mystery that links her past to the mansion where she now works.

Produced by Disney Channel Latin America, Soy Luna debuted in 2016 as a musical telenovela centered on Luna, a teenager whose life is upended when her parents accept a job at the Benson mansion in Buenos Aires. The mansion is owned by Sharon Benson, a woman hiding a traumatic history involving the death of her sister, Lili, and brother-in-law, Bernie, in a fire years prior. Sharon, believing her niece Sol Benson perished in the same blaze, seized the family fortune and changed her name.

Unbeknownst to Sharon, Luna is actually the surviving Sol Benson, smuggled out of the fire by a manor worker and raised by adoptive parents. As Luna navigates the competitive world of freestyle skate-dancing at the Jam & Roller rink, she faces constant sabotage from the popular Ambar, who is Sharon’s goddaughter. The narrative tension escalates as Sharon and her assistant, Rey, eventually discover Luna’s true identity, leading them to manipulate Ambar into posing as the long-lost heir to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

The series spans three original seasons, concluding with Luna uncovering the truth about her heritage and the fire that destroyed her birth home. Beyond the central mystery, the show explores themes of friendship, professional ambition, and romantic rivalry, featuring a large ensemble cast that navigates the transition from school to adulthood. Following its initial run, the franchise expanded through documentaries, a 2021 concert special on Disney+, and a 2026 revival titled Soy Luna: Let’s Roll Again.
