In short: In this 2025 action thriller, Christian Wolff returns to navigate a complex web of assassins and government secrets. Alongside his brother Braxton, Wolff must track down a missing family, uncovering a dark conspiracy that leads them from Los Angeles to a prison camp in Juarez to save captive children.

Directed by Gavin O'Connor and written by Bill Dubuque, The Accountant 2 marks the return of Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff and Jon Bernthal as his brother, Braxton. The plot centers on Marybeth Medina, a FinCEN deputy director who seeks Wolff's help after the death of her mentor, Raymond King. The investigation reveals that a mysterious assassin named Anaïs is actually a mother who suffered brain damage and acquired savant syndrome, including intense combat skills, following a car accident. Her history is tied to a corrupt operative named Burke, who murdered her husband and imprisoned her son, Alberto.

The film explores themes of family and loyalty as the brothers join forces to dismantle the criminal network holding Alberto captive. Justine, a character from the original film, leverages her network of autistic children to provide technical support, while the brothers execute a tactical assault on the Juarez compound. The narrative balances intense action sequences with the evolving dynamic between the two brothers, a relationship that critics noted as a significant improvement over the 2016 predecessor. The film grossed $103.3 million worldwide against an $80 million budget.

Reception has been generally positive, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 75% approval rating from 218 critics. While Metacritic assigned a score of 58 out of 100, audiences polled by CinemaScore awarded the film an 'A–'. Beyond the box office performance, the project is already expanding into a franchise. O'Connor has confirmed that a third installment is in development, which will adopt a road-trip format focusing on the brothers' relationship, described by the director as 'Rain Man on steroids'.
