The narrative escalates as Clay targets the Nine Star United Center in Boston, the hub for the scamming ring led by Derek Danforth, the CEO of Danforth Enterprises. The conflict draws in former CIA director Wallace Westwyld and the incumbent President, Jessica Danforth, who is Derek’s mother. As Clay navigates a gauntlet of mercenaries and government agents, the film explores themes of vigilante justice and systemic corruption. The production, directed by David Ayer and written by Kurt Wimmer, features Jason Statham in the lead role, who reportedly prepared for the part by learning actual beekeeping methods.
Released in January 2024, the film achieved commercial success, grossing $162.6 million worldwide against a budget of approximately $40 million. Critical reception was generally positive, with a 71% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
