Can new technology finally reveal the secrets hidden inside the Great Pyramid?
In short: The ScanPyramids mission recently uncovered a massive, mysterious void within the Great Pyramid of Giza. Now, the Exploring the Great Pyramid mission aims to map this space in unprecedented detail using advanced non-invasive techniques. This video examines the potential for these new methods to reshape our understanding of ancient history.
In 2017, the ScanPyramids mission utilized muography to identify a 'Big Void' inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. This massive empty space is positioned above the Grand Gallery and is nearly identical in size. The discovery marked a significant shift in how researchers investigate these ancient structures without damaging them.
The follow-up Exploring the Great Pyramid (EGP) mission is currently in development. It aims to produce 3D visualizations with up to 100 times the detail of earlier scans. Despite the technical promise, the project faces challenges from entrenched interests in the field of Egyptology, which has historically been resistant to sharing recognition with outside researchers.
