In short: NXT Halloween Havoc 2024 served as a pivotal transition point for professional wrestling's digital landscape. While it featured high-stakes matches and dramatic debuts, its true significance lies in the massive infrastructure shift moving content from long-time platforms to a new global home.

The October 27, 2024, event at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, marked a major branding milestone. It was the first NXT Halloween Havoc to exclusively utilize WWE branding rather than the NXT brand name. This shift occurred as the promotion prepared for its premiere on The CW earlier that same month. Additionally, it represented a rare geographical departure for the brand, being the first time this specific event took place outside of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

The event also functioned as a logistical bridge between eras of digital distribution. Before content moved to Netflix in January 2025, most global regions saw this as the ultimate Halloween Havoc on the independent WWE Network. Regional changes were also set: it debuted on Abema in Japan and Disney+ in the Philippines, but marked SonyLIV's final Indian broadcast prior to its April 2025 Netflix transition.

On the ring, the night featured five matches with high-concept stipulations. The NXT Championship remained with Trick Williams after he overcame Ethan Page during a 'Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal: Devil's Playground' contest. Other highlights included Tony D'Angelo defeating Oba Femi in a 'Tables, Ladders, and Scares' match to keep the North American title, and Kelani Jordan losing her championship in a gauntlet match to Fallon Henley of Fatal Influence. The night also saw the appearance of Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley.

Despite these milestones, the event faced critical scrutiny, receiving negative reviews from critics. It remains part of a long lineage dating back to 1989, originally established as a World Championship Wrestling (WCW) pay-per-view before being reinstated for NXT in 2020.
