How researchers archived the early, read-only web following 9/11

Dr. Tom Scheinfeldt, Director of Digital Humanities at the University of Connecticut, recounts his role in a project designed to collect born-digital materials. In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, the team sought to persuade the public to contribute their personal videos, images, and reflections to a dedicated online archive.
Presented by the Penn Cultural Heritage Center, the talk examines the challenges of building a digital archive in a media environment that preceded the interactive, social-media-driven web we know today.
