How an exhibition brings the lost city of Amarna back to life

The lecture examines an exhibition at the Glyptotek in Copenhagen designed to recreate the atmosphere of Amarna. By integrating the museum's own collection—including pieces from the North Palace, Maru Aten, and the Great Aten Temple—with significant loans, the exhibition aims to make the city's inhabitants tangible.
To achieve this, the display incorporates graphics, site photographs, and 3D video alongside artifacts from the National Museum of Denmark's collection of a glass production area and Workmen’s Village. The scale of the project is global, featuring highlights from the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the Ägyptisches Museum and Vorderasiatisches Museum in Berlin.
