The digital frontier is being flooded by 75,000 AI tracks every day
In short: Streaming giants are facing a massive influx of synthetic content. By 2026, nearly half of all new music delivered to Deezer was AI-generated. To protect human artists, the platform has deployed sophisticated detection tools to block fraudulent bot-driven streams and tag synthetic albums.
Deezer, the French streaming service founded in 2007, has transitioned from a legal licensing pioneer to a frontline defender against AI-generated music. While the platform initially struggled with licensing—taking over two years to secure deals with the four largest record labels—it now faces a different challenge: the sheer volume of synthetic uploads. By June 2026, the company reported receiving nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks per day, representing more than 44% of its new music delivery.
The threat isn't just volume; it's fraud. Reports indicate that up to 70% of streams for AI-generated music can be orchestrated by bots to artificially inflate royalty payouts. In response, Deezer implemented a multi-faceted strategy in 2025 and 2026 to protect legitimate artists. This included a tagging system for albums containing fully AI-generated tracks and a sophisticated detection tool that identifies approximately 10,000 AI-generated tracks daily, allowing the platform to exclude them from editorial and algorithmic recommendations.
By endorsing the "Statement on AI Training" during October 2024, Deezer established itself as a pioneer among large streaming services against using copyrighted material for generative AI training without permission. Furthermore, in June 2026, the company opened its AI music detection system to the wider industry. This move aims to promote transparency and provide end-users with a tool to check their own playlists across various platforms for the presence of synthetic content.
