The most productive NBA player to never play in an All-Star Game
In short: Andre Miller was a statistical anomaly. He amassed massive career totals in points, assists, and steals, yet never once appeared in an NBA All-Star Game. How does a player reach such elite heights while remaining entirely overlooked by the league's mid-season festivities?
During a 17-year NBA career, Andre Miller achieved a level of statistical production that few players in history can match. No other NBA athlete has achieved a career tally of 16,000 points, 8,000 assists, and 1,500 steals whilst missing every All-Star selection. His reliability was equally remarkable; despite the physical rigors of professional basketball, he missed only three games due to injury throughout his entire career.
Miller's ability to control the tempo of a game was evident as early as the 1998 NCAA tournament. Playing for the University of Utah, he delivered one of the most dominant performances in tournament history during a West Regional final against Arizona. During a 76–51 victory over the number one Wildcats, Miller achieved a triple-double with 13 assists, 14 rebounds, and 18 points, the fourth such feat in NCAA tournament history.
His professional journey saw him move through numerous franchises, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, and Philadelphia 76ers. In the 2001–02 season with Cleveland, he was the only player in the league to average both 10 or more points and 10 or more assists per game. Even in his later years, such as his 2006–07 stint with Philadelphia, he remained an elite facilitator, ranking fourth in the NBA in total assists with 625.
Beyond his playing days, Miller transitioned into coaching, most recently serving as the head coach for the Grand Rapids Gold in the NBA G League. His departure from the position was announced on August 6, 2025, following the appointment of Ryan Bowen.
