The men's field hockey tournament took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia. Running from August 20 to September 1, 2018, the event marked the 16th edition of the men's competition at the Asian Games. This process was based on the rankings provided by the FIH.
