How to automate your bibliography and citations in Google Docs

Writing a research paper or report does not have to mean manual formatting. This video demonstrates how to use Google Docs' built-in tools to automatically generate citations and build a professional bibliography without ever leaving your document.

The video explores two integrated features: the Citations tool and the Explore tool. While the Citations tool allows you to manually input details for books, journals, and websites to create a properly formatted bibliography, the Explore tool enables you to search the web directly within the interface. Any sources found via the Explore tool are automatically inserted as footnotes.

By completing all recommended fields, you can ensure your work adheres to major style guides including MLA, APA, and Chicago. Utilizing these tools helps maintain a polished, professional standard while saving significant time during the research process.
