The science of keeping natural stone surfaces pristine
In short: Natural stone is a luxury that requires specific upkeep to endure. This video features contractor Jason Keefe sharing professional techniques to seal, clean, and repair stone countertops.
Maintaining stone surfaces involves a two-part strategy: proactive sealing and reactive stain removal. To protect the material, a liquid silicone impregnator is applied using a white cotton cloth to create a barrier against moisture and oils.
When stains do occur, the video demonstrates the use of a limestone poultice. This mixture is applied with a plastic putty knife to draw deep-seated discoloration out of the stone, ensuring the surface remains durable and aesthetically intact.
