Artemis II astronauts to discuss lunar mission at Houston public event
The four crew members of NASA's Artemis II mission will appear at the University of Houston on Wednesday, September 30. The event marks the final public appearance in Houston for the astronauts following their recent lunar voyage.
According to NASA, astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, will present mission highlights at the Fertitta Center at 7 p.m. CDT. During the evening, the National Aeronautic Association intends to honor the crew for breaking the record for the furthest distance traveled in human spaceflight, a milestone previously held by the 1970 Apollo 13 mission.
The crew's mission, which launched on April 1 and concluded with a Pacific Ocean splashdown on April 10, utilized the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. NASA reports that the team traveled 252,756 miles from Earth, establishing a new record for distance from our planet.
