The Artemis Accords international coalition expands to 76 participating nations
NASA has announced that the Artemis Accords have grown to include 76 countries following the recent addition of Albania, Croatia, Côte d’Ivoire, and San Marino. This expansion marks a significant increase in global cooperation for lunar and Martian exploration.
According to NASA, the recent surge in membership represents a rapid period of growth for the initiative. The agency reports that nearly 40% of the world's nations are now part of this collaborative effort to establish safe and transparent space exploration. This momentum follows the start of President Trump’s second term, during which approximately one-third of the current signatories joined the group.
The framework, which originated in 2020 with the United States and seven other nations, utilizes a structured operational method adopted in 2024. This includes technical workshops and meetings at the International Astronautical Congress. Upcoming discussions, co-led by NASA's Matt Anderson and Peru's Major General Roberto Melgar Sheen, will focus on supporting new space-faring nations and managing lunar debris.
