In short: Imagine a smartphone screen that remains perfectly clear for you but becomes nearly invisible to anyone glancing from an angle. Samsung's new Privacy Display achieves this without the need for bulky physical filters, using advanced panel-level engineering to create a digital veil for your private data.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces the Privacy Display, a hardware-level technology developed by Samsung Display. Originally known as Flex Magic Pixel, this innovation allows users to significantly narrow the viewing angle of the screen via software. When enabled, the display becomes difficult to see from the side while remaining normal for the primary user. This provides a high-tech alternative to external privacy screen protectors, which often compromise brightness and clarity by adding a physical polarizing layer.

Unlike traditional films, this privacy is baked into the manufacturing process. Samsung selectively applies polarization to specific display elements at the panel level. This precision allows for granular control: users can toggle the effect on and off as needed or apply it only to specific areas, such as notification pop-ups or individual applications. The technology is exclusive to the S26 Ultra, which also features a new All Lens On Prism (ALoP) mechanism for its 5x telephoto camera and a return to an aluminum frame with rounded corners.

The broader S26 lineup also marks significant hardware shifts. While the S26 and S26+ utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in North America, China, and Japan (and the Exynos 2600 elsewhere), the S26 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 globally. Furthermore, the series introduces distinct wired charging speeds: the S26 at 25W, the S26+ and S26 FE at 45W, and the S26 Ultra at 60W—the fastest wired charging ever featured on a Galaxy smartphone. All models are supported by a 7-year update promise, ensuring they remain current until 2033.

A notable hardware regression exists for the budget-friendly S26 FE, which reverts to an older USB Type-C 2.0 port for the first time since the Galaxy S10 Lite. Despite this, the series maintains high-end standards with Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X displays reaching 2600 nits and 120Hz refresh rates across all models.
