In Summer 2023, Harvard University introduced AI-based software into its CS50 curriculum. Unlike commercial tools such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot, which the course limited, these custom tools were designed to act as pedagogically-minded experts. The implementation reached approximately 70 summer students, thousands of online learners, and hundreds of on-campus students by Fall 2023.
