The invisible architecture scaling the world's fiber optic capacity
In short: As global data demands soar, standard light transmission reaches its limits. This video explains coherent optics—the technology enabling high-capacity fiber communication—and explores how sophisticated signal modulation techniques like Phase Modulation make it possible.
Coherent optical technology is a primary method for increasing the throughput capacity of existing fiber optic networks. Unlike simpler methods, it utilizes advanced signal modulation to pack more data into each pulse of light.
The video specifically examines these modulation techniques, including Phase Modulation, and highlights their role in initiatives like CableLabs' 10G project involving Full Duplex Coherent Optics.
