In short: After swapping a business curriculum for a history degree at the Sorbonne, Dimitri Rassam began building a cinematic empire. From award-winning animation to massive eighty million dollar historical epics, the French producer is currently pushing the financial boundaries of European filmmaking through ambitious new projects and large-scale international productions.

Dimitri Rassam has built a career defined by significant financial and creative scale. After studying history at the Sorbonne, he founded Chapter 2 in 2005, later establishing On Entertainment in 2014. His work spans from the 2016 César Award-winning 'The Little Prince' to massive ensemble pieces like 'The Three Musketeers' (2023), a production costing 72M€ with a 150-day shoot. His early professional ventures include the 2008 release of Trouble at Timpetill and the 2014 production of Escobar: Paradise Lost. He also helped establish On Entertainment as a major European force in animation alongside Aton Soumache.

Rassam’s ambitions are currently pushing the limits of the French film industry's budget. In December 2024, it was announced that his new company, Yapluka, would produce an adaptation of Maurice Druon’s 'The Accursed Kings' series. The first installment, 'The Iron King', is slated to begin production in 2026 with an approximate budget of $80 million. If realized, this would make it the most expensive French film produced since the 2017 release of 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets'. This project follows his recent work on Benjamin Millepied's feature film, Carmen, which debuted at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. He also produced the 2023 film Limonov: The Ballad, featuring Ben Whishaw.

Beyond the box office, Rassam’s personal life has been intertwined with European royalty. Through his marriage to Charlotte Casiraghi in 2019—a ceremony held at both the Prince's Palace of Monaco and Sainte-Marie de Pierredont Abbey—he became a member of the Monegasque princely family. While the couple reportedly separated and divorced in 2024, his influence on the landscape of European animation and historical drama remains a central fixture of the industry. The son of actress Carole Bouquet and producer Jean-Pierre Rassam, he previously married Masha Novoselova in 2010. His professional portfolio also includes the 2024 production of The Count of Monte Cristo.
