Released to mark the iPhone's tenth anniversary, the iPhone X abandoned the iconic home button for a bezel-less design and facial recognition. Unveiled in September 2017 at the Steve Jobs Theater, the iPhone X represented the culmination of five years of development. By removing the physical home button and introducing Face ID—a system using 30,000 infrared dots to map a user's face—Apple fundamentally altered how users interacted with their devices.
