In short: Growing up in the shadow of a supermodel legacy, Presley Gerber navigated a high-profile career in fashion while privately battling the pressures of public scrutiny. His journey from runway lights to public advocacy highlights the complex intersection of celebrity, mental health, and the search for personal identity.

Born in 1999 to supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, Presley Gerber entered a world where his identity was inextricably linked to his lineage. His name itself was a tribute to the era of Elvis Presley, chosen after a dinner with producer David Foster. By age 15, he began a professional modeling career with IMG Models, making his runway debut for Moschino at 16. He quickly became a fixture in the industry, walking for prestigious brands like Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Ralph Lauren, and appearing in a 2018 Super Bowl advertisement alongside his mother.

Despite his professional success—including winning a 'Breakout Star' award in 2017—Gerber faced significant personal challenges. In 2019, he was arrested for driving under the influence, leading to three years of probation. His public image was further complicated by a viral controversy in 2020 when he tattooed the word 'misunderstood' on his face, a move he later compared to experiences with transphobia before removing the tattoo in 2021.

In his later years, Gerber pivoted toward advocacy, using his platform to discuss his struggles with depression and addiction. He launched 'Mental Health Mondays' on Instagram and spoke openly about the pressures of growing up in the public eye, identifying a turning point at age 23. He expressed a desire to help others navigate similar struggles, even considering a mental health-focused clothing line. Gerber passed away in September 2026 at the age of 27 while at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica.
