Why giving young people a platform is the most effective way to drive change

Anshul Tewari: Want to make change? Let young people tell their stories · 11:11 · Video: TED · Watch at the source

In short: Anshul Tewari explains how he transformed a simple blog into India's largest citizen media platform. By empowering youth to share their own stories, he demonstrates how authentic voices can build the individual and collective agency necessary to tackle underrepresented social issues.

As a teenager, Anshul Tewari noticed that young people were consistently excluded from significant public discourse. To bridge this gap, he founded Youth Ki Awaaz, a media platform that now hosts over 200,000 young contributors every month.

The platform serves as a space for youth to document real-world change, ranging from grassroots efforts to bring electricity to remote villages to the mobilization of national climate campaigns. Tewari argues that when young people are given the tools to tell their own stories, they move from being passive observers to active agents of social transformation.
