This led to a pivotal merger with the US operations of the Irish bookmaker Paddy Power Betfair, which eventually became Flutter Entertainment. While the merger helped FanDuel become a primary US brand, it was not without legal friction; founders and early investors filed lawsuits in both Scottish and New York courts, alleging that the company was undervalued during the deal.
Today, FanDuel is a cornerstone of Flutter Entertainment's US segment, which reported $5,798 million in revenue for the year ending December 31, 2024. The company has expanded far beyond its digital roots, operating retail sportsbooks in 15 US states and online casino products in several others, including Connecticut and Michigan. Its influence extends to major sports leagues through partnerships with the NHL and the PGA Tour, marking a total transformation from its modest Scottish origins.
