In short: In the high-stakes world of WWE, the Money in the Bank ladder match offers more than just glory. Winners secure a contract that can be cashed in for a title match whenever they choose over the next twelve months, turning a single victory into a year of strategic power.

The 2024 Money in the Bank, held on July 6 at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, marked the first time this premium live event (PLE) was hosted in Canada. It was the 15th annual iteration of the event and the second consecutive year WWE held the show outside the United States, following the 2023 event in London, England. The event was hosted by Toronto native and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The show was part of a three-night weekend of events at the arena. This included a SmackDown episode and the Heatwave PLE.

The signature ladder match features participants competing to retrieve a briefcase containing a contract. While originally limited to world championships, since 2022, the contract can be used for any championship. The 2024 matches featured six competitors each, split evenly between the Raw and SmackDown brands. In the men's match, Raw's Drew McIntyre emerged victorious, while SmackDown's Tiffany Stratton won the women's match. Damian Priest successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship during a triple threat bout. He retained the title after Drew McIntyre cashed in his newly won contract.

The event also featured significant storylines and debuts. Jacob Fatu debuted in WWE during a six-man tag team match, as The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga) beat Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton. Furthermore, John Cena appeared unexpectedly to declare that 2025 marks his concluding year as an active wrestler. This show also marks a shift for fans, representing the last Money in the Bank broadcast on the standalone WWE Network across most international territories before the Netflix merger in January 2025. Sami Zayn successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker. The match took place during the event's second scheduled match.
