In short: From a 1996 debut through a non-profit organization to global superstardom, Nickelback's discography reveals a massive commercial trajectory. Their journey includes topping international charts and achieving diamond-level sales, driven by massive hits that defined a specific era of mainstream rock music.

After being established in Hanna, Alberta, in 1995 by Ryan Peake, Chad Kroeger, Brandon Kroeger and Mike Kroeger, the group started with small independent recordings. Their debut, Curb, was issued in 1996 via the non-profit organization FACTOR, followed by the self-released The State in 1998. After signing with Roadrunner Records in late 1999, they achieved international reach, with The State reaching number 130 on the US Billboard 200.

The band's commercial momentum accelerated significantly in the early 2000s. Their 2001 release, Silver Side Up, became a worldwide success with over 10 million copies sold, featuring the chart-topping single "How You Remind Me." This was followed by The Long Road in 2003, which sold over 5 million units and reached number 1 in Canada. By 2005, the band achieved their first Billboard 200 number one with All the Right Reasons, their best-selling release to date, moving 18 million units worldwide.

The success of All the Right Reasons included a diamond certification from the RIAA in the US, where it sold 10 million units. The track "Photograph" hit number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, whereas "Rockstar" turned into their top-selling US single, with 4.5 million digital copies sold. Following a period with Roadrunner Records, the band moved to Republic Records and later BMG, releasing albums such as No Fixed Address in 2014 and Feed the Machine in 2017. By November 2019, it was reported that the band had sold upwards of 50 million albums globally.
