On Mars, humanity's desperate attempt to terraform the planet created a nightmare of evolution.
In short: In the 21st century, scientists seeded Mars with algae and cockroaches to prepare the planet for human life. Five hundred years later, the first crewed mission discovered those insects had evolved into giant, humanoid monsters. Now, genetically modified humans must fight these Terraformars to save Earth from a deadly virus.
The story of Terra Formars begins with a scientific gamble: terraforming Mars to secure a future for humanity. Researchers introduced modified algae to purify the atmosphere, using cockroaches to spread the organism across the surface. This plan backfired catastrophically when the insects evolved into the Terraformars, a species of giant, humanoid creatures possessing immense physical strength and agility. When the first human expedition arrived five centuries later, the crew was decimated, leaving behind only a warning.
To reclaim the planet and find a cure for the mysterious Alien Engine Virus, or A.E. Virus, humanity launched the BUGS II mission. This expedition involved soldiers who underwent the M.O. operation, a procedure that grants humans the biological traits of other organisms. This transformation is dangerous, carrying only a 36% survival rate. These modified humans wield abilities ranging from the crushing strength of the Paraponera ant to the explosive chemical sprays of the bombardier beetle, all in a desperate bid to survive the hostile Martian environment.
The conflict escalated as the Terraformars demonstrated a terrifying capacity for adaptation. Not only did they multiply rapidly, but they also began to copy the unique biological powers of the humans they killed. By the time of the Annex I mission, the struggle had evolved into a multi-sided war involving various human factions with conflicting interests. The stakes are absolute: the Terraformars have already infiltrated Earth, and the survival of the human race depends on the success of these brutal, high-stakes expeditions.
