In short: Launched in 2008, TechRadar has grown from a UK-based publication into a massive international network. By shifting its focus from simple news stories to organized product categories, it has carved out a significant space in the crowded landscape of consumer technology and gadget reviews.

Founded in 2008, TechRadar began as a British-focused technology news website. It quickly gained momentum, becoming the largest consumer technology review site in the United Kingdom by 2013. The publication's reach expanded significantly through strategic international growth, including entries into the United States in January 2012 and Australia in October 2012. Its influence also extends across Europe, with licensed editions serving markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and several Nordic countries, including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, as well as the Netherlands and Belgium.

The publication is a key asset of Future plc, which ranks as the sixth-largest publisher in the United Kingdom. The site's scale was evidenced in the fourth quarter of 2017, when it reached the 93rd position on Similarweb's US Media Publications Rankings. To manage its diverse content, the brand has branched into specialized sub-brands. TechRadar Pro serves a B2B audience, focusing on small businesses and decision-makers with a dedicated nine-person staff led by managing editor Désiré Athow. Meanwhile, TechRadar Gaming (TRG) was launched on December 17, 2021, to bridge the gap between hardware and gaming, supported by a three-person team under managing editor Rob Dwiar.

In 2023, the platform underwent a major relaunch via a significant redesign. This strategic shift moved the user experience away from traditional story-based navigation toward a model organized by product categories to improve how users find information. As of February 2025, the main TechRadar masthead consists of 40 staff members, overseen by global editor-in-chief Marc McLaren and editor-at-large Lance Ulanoff.
