The production utilized Ontario, Canada, as its primary filming hub, specifically featuring locations in Cambridge, Port Hope, and Hamilton. A total of 13 episodes made up season one, which debuted on Hulu within the US on 4 December 2020. It later expanded to a Canadian audience via YTV starting in March 2021. A trailer for the show first appeared in November 2020. The project was officially announced back in September 2019.

The narrative centers on Frank and Joe Hardy, who team up with their friends and father to uncover local threats. The cast underwent some evolution across its three-season run; for instance, the role of Fenton Hardy was held by James Tupper in season one before being taken over by Anthony Lemke for seasons two and three. Other recurring characters like Jesse Hooper also saw cast changes between the first season and subsequent installments. The series features a diverse ensemble including characters like Belinda Conrad and Kanika Khan. It also includes specific antagonists such as The Tall Man and various Munder brothers.

The series concluded its run with a third and final season released on July 26, 2023. By maintaining the core dynamic of brothers solving mysteries while introducing a contemporary aesthetic, the show bridges the gap between Stratemeyer's original literary world and modern television production standards. The second season arrived on April 6, 2022. Almost every actor was revealed simultaneously during the initial December launch.
