How to brew your first one-gallon batch of all-grain beer
In short: Master the essentials of small-batch brewing with this simple, inexpensive all-grain recipe. This video demonstrates the 'brew in a bag' method, using basic equipment to create a flavorful beer at home.
The process utilizes the BIAB (brew in a bag) technique, which is an accessible entry point for beginners. The recipe calls for crushed Munich malt, 13.5g of Tettnang hops (3.7% alpha acid), and Saffale US-05 yeast.
The method involves heating water to 156ºF, dissolving a Campden tablet, and mashing the grain at 154ºF for one hour. After boiling the wort with hops for one hour and chilling it to 60ºF, the beer is fermented in a sanitized one-gallon jug for two weeks. Final carbonation is achieved by adding priming sugar to pressure-rated bottles and allowing them to rest at room temperature for another two weeks.
