In short: Before she became a household name in global television and a bestselling author, Lorraine Pascale walked runways for Chanel and Versace. After a successful modelling career, she pivoted to the kitchen, finding that professional cooking fit her life as naturally as a pair of old, comfortable jeans.

Born in Hackney in 1972, Lorraine Pascale’s early life was defined by transition. Adopted at 18 months old and raised in Oxfordshire, she later navigated the foster care system before finding her path. By age 16, she was discovered by the same agent who represented Naomi Campbell, launching a high-fashion career that saw her grace the cover of American Elle and appear in the 1998 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Yet, Pascale was acutely aware of the transient nature of modelling and began exploring diverse career paths, including car mechanics and hypnotherapy, to secure her future.

In 2005, she enrolled at Leith's School of Food and Wine, earning a diploma that shifted her trajectory toward the culinary arts. Rather than pursuing traditional restaurant work, which she found incompatible with her lifestyle, she carved out a niche as a specialist cakemaker. With the encouragement of chef Marco Pierre White, she secured a contract with Selfridges, supplying the London store with over 1,000 Christmas cakes in 2008 and 2010. This success laid the groundwork for her transition into media, where she became a prolific television presenter and author.

Pascale’s media career exploded in 2011 with the BBC series Baking Made Easy, followed by a string of successful books and shows, including Home Cooking Made Easy and Fast, Fresh & Easy Food. Her influence expanded internationally, with her shows airing in 70 countries. Beyond the kitchen, she has become a prominent advocate for emotional wellness and fostering, serving as the UK Government Fostering and Adoption Ambassador and patron of TACT. Today, she balances her media presence with a commitment to visiting schools and prisons to discuss resilience, proving that her most significant contribution may be her work in empowering others.
