Five extraordinary gardens that define the art of landscape design
In short: Join Monty Don on a global tour of five breathtaking landscapes. From ancient Japanese temples to modern urban innovations, discover the diverse gardens that represent the pinnacle of horticultural creativity and historical beauty.
The journey traverses continents to showcase how culture and history shape our environments. In England, the timeless Rousham in Oxfordshire offers a classic landscape, while the ruined garden city of Ninfa in Italy provides a sense of haunting romance. The tour moves to the structured elegance of Kyoto's temple gardens and the grand, orderly design of Vaux-le-Vicomte in France.
The selection concludes with a contrast in style, exploring the bold, modern vision of New York’s High Line. This collection highlights how gardening can range from historical preservation to contemporary urban transformation.
