Why the myth of alien architects is more than just a silly theory
In short: Popular media often replaces historical facts with absurd claims, such as the idea that extraterrestrials constructed the pyramids. This video explores why these pseudo-archaeological myths are actually dangerous to our understanding of human history.
Archaeologist Sarah Kurnick examines how pop culture—specifically movies and television—has allowed aliens to 'invade' ancient history. These misconceptions do more than just misinform; they often perpetuate racist and xenophobic views regarding human culture and history.
By understanding how these outlandish myths take root, we can learn how to actively debunk them and protect the integrity of our shared human past.
