In short: Arthur Chatto has lived a life of striking contrasts. From being a social media sensation dubbed the next Prince Harry to setting a Guinness World Record by rowing around Great Britain, he has navigated both the spotlight and the rigors of military training.

Born on 5 February 1999, Arthur Robert Nathaniel Chatto occupies a unique position within the British royal family. As the grandson of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, he is a great-grandson of both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. His lineage connects him to the heart of the monarchy, yet his personal pursuits have often taken him far from the traditional royal path.

Before committing to the Royal Marines, Chatto built a reputation as an adventurer and a digital personality. At 17, he tackled major Alpine peaks, including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. By 2017, his social media presence had grown significantly, leading The Observer to compare him to Prince Harry. He even became the first royal family member to share shirtless photos online, earning the nickname "the royal family's resident thirst trapper."

His most notable physical feat occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside two friends, Chatto completed a 42-day, 2,000-mile rowing journey around the British mainland. This achievement made him the youngest person to ever complete the feat, a record recognized by Guinness World Records. His team was the only one to finish the challenge that year. Beyond the physical endurance, the mission served a philanthropic purpose, raising over £21,000 for the British Red Cross and the charity Just One Ocean.

Since joining the Royal Marines training programme in 2021, Chatto has significantly altered his public profile. He has reduced his attendance at royal functions and deleted his social media accounts, moving away from the digital fame that once defined his public persona.
