Fifty artifacts that reveal three millennia of ancient Egyptian history and daily life.
In short: This discussion explores the Egypt Exploration Society's new publication, which chronicles Egyptian history through fifty distinct objects. By examining both elite treasures and humble everyday items, the book offers a unique perspective on the civilization's evolution from the Early Dynastic era to the Graeco-Roman period.
The Egypt Exploration Society, founded in 1882, has curated a collection of artifacts sourced from museums worldwide for this volume. The selection includes items from both renowned institutions and lesser-known collections, providing a comprehensive look at the lives of ancient Egyptians across three thousand years.
Beyond the objects themselves, the work examines the history of Egyptology and the influential figures who shaped the field. The discussion features insights from the Society's leadership and experts from the Manchester Museum, highlighting the significance of these finds in understanding the broader narrative of ancient Egypt.
