From junior champion to Colombia's top singles star
In short: Camila Osorio didn't just enter the professional tennis world; she conquered it with a rapid ascent. By mastering her home courts and navigating grueling comeback trails, she became the first Colombian woman to reach several historic milestones on the WTA Tour.
Born in 2001, Camila Osorio established herself as a prodigy early in her career. Between 2017 and 2019, she dominated the junior circuit, reaching world No. 1 in September 2019. Her standout achievement during this period was winning the girls' singles title at the 2019 US Open, where she defeated Alexandra Yepifanova by winning every set except one. Osorio’s transition to the professional ranks was marked by resilience. In April 2021, ranked No. 180, she secured her first WTA singles title at the Copa Colsanitas in Colombia. Despite facing an abdominal injury that hampered her performance during a late-season run in Tenerife, she managed to break into the top 100 by May 2021.
Her career reached a significant peak on April 4, 2022, when she hit a singles ranking of No. 33. Her impact on Colombian tennis is historic. She continued this trend in 2024 by becoming the first Colombian to reach a semifinal at the WTA 500-level. By 2025, she secured her third title in Bogotá, joining an elite group of only two players to have won three or more titles at that specific venue.
Osorio's career is defined by high-stakes victories and endurance. In 2026, she recorded the longest tour-level match win of her career at the French Open, lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes against Yulia Putintseva. Her versatility also extends to doubles, where she has secured three titles and reached a career-high ranking of No. 162 by September 2025.
