How contemporary Native American artists use their work to reclaim and define their history.
In short: This video series explores how Pueblo, Diné, and Tlingit creators utilize art to preserve cultural heritage, document personal and collective histories, and address the delicate state of the natural world.
The project highlights the role of art as a tool for healing and strengthening traditions. By sharing their perspectives, these artists offer a direct response to historical narratives, providing a platform for Native voices to define their own experiences and cultural identity.
These films were developed as part of a broader museum initiative that concluded in 2011. Produced over a fourteen-month period with funding from the Annenberg Foundation and Gregory Annenberg Weingarten, the effort resulted in five eight-minute videos designed to showcase key themes identified during community discussions.
