In short: At just 15 years old, Francesco Camarda achieved what few professionals ever do: he became the youngest player to ever debut in Serie A. From a defender in training to a prolific international striker, his rapid ascent through the ranks of AC Milan is nothing short of extraordinary.

Born in Milan on 10 March 2008, Camarda’s footballing journey began at the Afforese school before he joined the AC Milan academy in 2015. Interestingly, his first training sessions with the professional club saw him deployed as a defender. However, his natural instinct for the ball—marked by an ability to dribble through opponents and score—prompted a permanent move to the striker position.

His statistical rise was staggering. During his time in the AC Milan academy, he recorded 485 goals in just 89 matches, an average of roughly 5.45 goals per game. This scoring prowess extended to the youth levels, including a 22-goal haul in 24 games for the under-15 side. His impact was felt internationally too, leading Italy to the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship title, where he was named Player of the Tournament.

The records began to tumble in late 2023. In November, following a squad shortage, manager Stefano Pioli secured special permission from the Italian Football Federation to include the under-16 player in the first-team squad. When he substituted for Luka Jović against Fiorentina on 25 November 2023, he became the youngest player in Serie A history at 15 years and 260 days. By October 2024, he had also become the youngest Italian to debut in the Champions League, standing as the seventh youngest player in the competition's history.

While his career has seen transitions, including a loan spell at Lecce that saw him score his first Serie A goal in late 2025, his path remains defined by precocity. Whether breaking records previously held by players like Fabrizio Caligara or Moise Kean, Camarda represents a rare generation of talent capable of competing at the highest level before even reaching adulthood.
