From a mistaken audition to a multi-national pop powerhouse
In short: Becoming a famous figure across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America was not Lali Espósito's original intention. Her career began with a literal accident: wandering into a producer's audition by mistake. That single wrong turn launched a trajectory of record-breaking telenovelas and gold-certified albums.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1991, Mariana Espósito first appeared on television at age six in 1998. Her professional breakthrough occurred in 2002 when she accidentally walked into an audition for producer Cris Morena. This led to her casting in Rincón de Luz, a children's series that eventually exported her talent to Israel, where she performed in a stage adaptation in 2004.
Espósito's rise was cemented through high-profile roles in juvenile telenovelas like Floricienta and Chiquititas. By 2007, she moved into leading roles in Casi Ángeles, which became a massive hit across multiple continents. During this era, she also fronted the teen pop group Teen Angels. The group was a commercial juggernaut, releasing six studio albums between 2007 and 2012, with five of them achieving platinum certification in Argentina.
Transitioning to a solo artist in 2013, Espósito released A Bailar, an album blending pop and EDM. The demand was so high that her website crashed during the lead single's digital release. Her subsequent album, Soy (2016), was noted for its personal nature, selling over 20,000 copies in Argentina in just three hours. Her influence is recognized globally; in 2015, Infobae named her one of Argentina's ten most influential women.
Beyond music, she has established herself as a versatile actress in film and theater, including a production of The Crucible and the Netflix series Sky Rojo. Her accolades include six Gardel Awards and five MTV Europe Music Awards, reflecting a career built on navigating the transition from child star to a sophisticated, multi-platform entertainer.
