How high school students contributed to a major archaeological discovery in Galilee
In short: In 2012, students from the Rowe-Clark Math and Science Academy joined researchers from the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures to excavate the site of Marj Rabba in Israel. This collaboration provided students with hands-on archaeological experience while supporting the ongoing Galilee Prehistory Project.
The excavation at Marj Rabba was part of the Galilee Prehistory Project, an initiative supported by John and Jeanne Rowe. Their involvement bridged the gap between academic research and secondary education, allowing students to participate directly in field discovery.
The project highlights the value of integrating young learners into professional archaeological teams, where their energy and enthusiasm assisted the researchers in uncovering the history of the region.
