From a 12-year-old trainee to a global wrestling heavyweight
In short: Before he was a mainstay on WWE's Raw brand, Pete Dunne was a masked wrestler named Tiger Kid. His journey from local community centres in the West Midlands to championship glory in Japan and the UK is a masterclass in professional persistence.
Born Peter Thomas England in Solihull in 1993, the man known as Pete Dunne began his professional training in 2006 at just 12 years old. His early years were spent in the trenches of the British independent circuit, training in repurposed boxing rings during school holidays and competing under a mask as Tiger Kid. It wasn't until a high-stakes hair vs mask loss in 2010 that he abandoned the persona to adopt the identity that would eventually take him to the global stage.
Dunne's career is defined by long-term dominance and strategic alliances. He co-founded Attack! Pro Wrestling in 2011 to create more opportunities for his peers and held the promotion's 24/7 Championship for an unprecedented 307 consecutive days. His ability to command a championship was even more evident in WWE, where he achieved a record-setting 685-day reign as the United Kingdom Champion, a tenure that surpassed even Brock Lesnar's recent Universal Championship run.
His evolution has seen him move through various personas, from the heel leader of British Strong Style to the 'Butch' character in the Brawling Brutes. By 2025, he had transitioned again into the 'Rayo Americano' persona as part of the Los Americanos stable. Whether competing in the prestigious King of Trios in the United States or touring Japan with Michinoku Pro Wrestling, Dunne has remained a pivotal figure in the industry's shifting landscape.
