WWE moves Survivor Series to San Diego's Petco Park for a historic night
In short: The 39th annual Survivor Series marks a major shift for WWE. For the first time, the event moves outdoors to a Major League Baseball stadium, breaking tradition to host its high-stakes WarGames matches under the California sky.
Held on November 29, 2025, at Petco Park, Survivor Series: WarGames represents a significant evolution for the long-running brand. This event was the first in the series' history to be held in an outdoor stadium and the first to take place in a Major League Baseball venue. It also marked the second time the event was held in California, following the 2018 Los-Angeles show.
The card was headlined by two WarGames matches, a format that has defined the event since its 2022 rebranding. Unlike the traditional elimination-style matches that characterized Survivor Series from 1987 to 2021, these modern versions feature a roofless steel cage surrounding two side-by-side rings. These matches are decided by a single fall rather than the elimination of all opponents.
The evening was notable for several milestones, including the final in-ring appearance of John Cena at a Survivor Series event before his retirement at the end of 2025. Additionally, the broadcast marked a new era for distribution; it was the first to stream on Netflix internationally and on ESPN's direct-to-consumer service in the United States, following the expiration of WWE's Peacock contract in August.
The matches featured intense rivalries across both the Raw and SmackDown rosters. In the men's main event, the team of The Vision—consisting of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed—alongside Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre, secured a victory over the team of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, The Usos, and Roman Reigns.
