Could a secret entrance be hidden inside the Menkaure pyramid?
In short: New scans of the Menkaure pyramid have revealed two air-filled voids behind its eastern face. This video explores how advanced non-invasive technology is helping scientists investigate the possibility of a previously undiscovered entrance.
Using a combination of radar, ultrasound, and electrical resistivity tomography, a research team has confirmed the presence of two anomalies behind the eastern facade of the Giza pyramid. These cavities, located at depths of 1.13 meters and 1.4 meters, are air-filled and measure approximately 1 by 1.5 meters and 0.9 by 0.7 meters.
The discovery focuses on a specific area of the pyramid's granite casing that appears unusually smooth, a feature otherwise only seen near the known northern entrance. This finding supports a hypothesis proposed in 2019 that a second entrance might exist, bringing researchers a significant step closer to confirming a hidden corridor.
