How a Gearbox Trades Speed for Torque
In short: How a gearbox lets an engine with a narrow working speed range drive a car across a wide range of road speeds, trading speed for torque through gear ratios, and how manuals, automatics and other designs handle those ratios.
A 1:55 short film in the series “How Things Work”, narrated by intellect_voice_01.
