How a radical street librarian is dismantling book deserts
In short: Storybook Maze is transforming public spaces into literary hubs. Watch to see how she bypasses traditional systems to place books directly into the hands of children in underserved communities.
By operating as a 'radical street librarian,' Storybook Maze addresses the issue of book deserts—geographic areas where access to literature is severely limited. Her methods include installing free, public book vending machines and hosting story times on street corners.
The initiative aims to democratize reading by making books accessible in places they are typically scarce. The video also provides a framework for others interested in adopting these radical librarianship tactics.
