Could you be worth your weight in 24 carat gold?

Christmas Lectures 2012 - Worth your Weight in Gold · 3:33 · Video: The Royal Institution · Watch at the source

In short: In this 201sing 2012 Christmas Lecture, Dr Peter Wothers attempts a literal feat of measurement by weighing a volunteer against pure gold.

The demonstration explores the sheer value of precious metals by comparing a human's mass to 24 carat gold. To bridge the gap when the initial supply proved insufficient, Dr Wothers utilized the Nobel Prize medal of chemist Sir Harry Kroto, who received the award in 1996 for the discovery of C60, a new form of carbon.
