The invisible landscape of scents reveals a world beyond human sight
In short: Dogs do not just smell; they navigate a complex sensory map that transcends our visual experience. This video explores how unique nasal architecture allows dogs to perceive information about the past, future, and hidden dimensions.
Alexandra Horowitz explains that a dog's nose acts as a sophisticated gateway to an invisible reality. By analyzing their specialized anatomy, we can understand how they detect traces of events that have already occurred or anticipate what is coming next.
The video illustrates the concept of 'smelling' as a form of spatial and temporal awareness. It highlights how dogs perceive objects and environments through chemical signatures, providing them with a rich context of the world that remains entirely inaccessible to human senses.
