Could your own genetic code preserve human history forever?
In short: Digital records are fragile, but biological storage might be the ultimate archive. This video explores how DNA could safeguard human knowledge against global catastrophes, offering a way to store our collective history for millennia.
The video addresses the vulnerability of our current information systems, noting that events like nuclear fallout could permanently erase all digital and written records. To counter this, it explores the potential of DNA as a resilient medium for long-term data preservation.
By utilizing the same biological building blocks that encode life, we could theoretically record every piece of human history in a format that survives beyond the end of modern civilization.
