The Bengali legend of a princess and the quest for Magic Mountain

The story begins when a trio of siblings, inspired by a king's visit, attempts to build a palace using rare marble, seeds, and jewels. Following the advice of a holy man, they seek the Magic Mountain, located east of north and north of east, which holds treasures accessible only to a true hero.
While various oral versions of this tale exist throughout the Bengali-speaking world, this particular retelling is based on a literary version known as 'Kironmala'. This version can be found in 'Thakurmar Jhuli', an anthology of Bengali folktales compiled by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar in the early 20th century.
